These images are great--and I love the idea--it is very smart!
I am having a slight issue with the front and back cover. I am not in love with the images of art supplies. It sort of says "Hey, this is an art book/this is an add for 20% off at Michaels." Don't get me wrong, it is clever and well shot, but in an ADD MAN kind of way.
I think that the work inside these covers are more important than that, and more conceptual. Please take the next few days to try out some other covers. Look at the materials that you use to compile the other images. They are household goods. Everyday object. Make your cover reflect that.
The body of the book is excellent. The images are lovely, formal and compelling. Call me if you need a pep talk or wanna just hash some ideas out.
You did a great job this semester, sister. Thank you for all of your hard work and focus.
Jessica, The photos turned out really good and the design elements work pretty well for me. I like the definitions becuase they really tie thee concept together. Andrew
Great job...i know that you were struggling with the cover but you seemed to like the idea of putting everything as one on the cover...i must admit that I like the last one you had up better but this one isnt bad...i cant wait for the surprise end.
Your book looks awesome and the cover is great! You image composition is nice and strong. Love the objects you used in your photos. They have an abstract quality about them.
definitely the cover change was a good idea because the inside and outside before just didn't match in content.
the page numbers are a little distracting. maybe either a change in the size or making them neutral as well would help.
in some of the grey images, there were a couple of blown out highlights. they had a bit of a pink glow. not too sure if this was intentional or unfixable, but just something we noticed.
i like your book a lot, the pictures are really good and they keep my mind at a constant state of shifting concentration, one second i wanna focus on the stuff in the picture and the next i wanna focus on the picture as a whole which makes it all very exciting regardless of the neutrality of it all. the text is great, it really helps the book without taking power from the images.
Good call on the new covers. The only thing I would do is possibly take out the 'Summer 2008' on the back cover, but I'll understand if you decide to keep it just for time's sake. Other than that, your book is solid to me. I've told you this once, but I give you mad props for layout. I'm glad you were able to use some of the pictures you took at my house while we were having insane roflz! :) <3
